NYFW: Jonathan Simkhai S/S 2013

Simkhai’s beach inspired presentation emulated a sense of wanting summer more than spring. Why bother with springy essentials like florals and pastels? Simkhai got down to business with minimalist silhouettes coupled with fun prints and unexpected textures. Top it off with a pair of metallic sunnies and you have a match made in S/S 2013 heaven.

One thing I love about LA is anything that reflects the classic Hollywood era. I grew up watching all the old silver screen movies with my grandmother and pretty much tried to model my life around the style of the era. In LA, while there are still a few of the classic Hollywood era restaurants around many are gone, and the ones that remain can tend to be a tad run down and over touristy… So were does a stylish gal dine if she is wanting the vibe of a classic supper club (think the Stork club from the 50’s)? Well I found my answer last week. The Whisper Lounge at the Grove. www.whisperloungela.com This ultra-chic dining spot totally reminded me of a classic super club, I expected Grace Kelly or Jimmy Stewart to stroll in at any moment. The decor was classic (lots of mahogany, lush fabrics) with a modern edge (both myself and my date, designer-to-the stars Patrick Delanty loved the light fixtures in the main bar area). The decor was perfect, the drinks were amazing, the chef was handsome and the food… to die for! The mushroom and truffle flat bread was one of my fave items on the menu and the steak I ordered for my main was on of the best I have ever had. I really enjoyed the exclusive atmosphere of The Whisper lounge and would suggest next time you are looking for a stylish night out you stop by.
